Item Description
2.75x7.5" check is dated Jan. 27, 1880 and has been signed in black ink with a fountain pen. Check has "Two Cents" US Internal Revenue stamp affixed. Drawn on "Fletcher & Sharpe's Bank" of Indianapolis, check appears to have been made out to "Self" for $25.02 by Harrison. Boldly signed "Benj Harrison." Center has three cuts that seem to be from cancellation. They form a "Y" shape with longest line 1" and shorter line measuring .75". On far right a sliver of paper missing at margin and narrow segment of paper 5/16" from right edge separated but has since been reattached via archival tape repair to blank reverse. Two traces of small mounting hinges on reverse. Check is VG overall. Signature is only slightly affected by issues mentioned and displays Fine. Comes with Hake's COA.
