7.5x9.75" glossy with two images of Paige on mound in Cleveland Indians uniform. Reverse side has International Newspaper caption dated 7-9-48. Caption is titled "Satchel Paige Comes Of Age". Text notes "Leroy Satchel Paige Finally Made The 'Big Time' Here Tonight. 'Satchmo' Strode To The Mound In The Fifth Inning Of The Indian-St. Louis Game As A Relief Hurler For The Tribe's Leading Pitcher Bob Lemon". Text goes on "Left Panel, Paige Fingers Ball And Looks For Catcher Jim Hegan's Signal Preparatory To Throwing First Pitch. Right Panel, Paige Lets Fly With His First Pitch In American League Competition." Photo is credited to Tom Peoples. Photo has lt. handling creases, mostly just visible in reflected light. Paper caption on reverse side is a bit brittle and has been neatly taped in place. Overall VG. Incredibly historic item for this legendary pitcher.
