Item Description
Each is 3.5x5.5". Early 1900s. Two are printed by Cross Chicago, one is published by Indianapolis Postcard Co. One has no publisher's mark. Three have managers names and three have the team's Indianapolis address. All players are in uniform. Count of players ranges from 10 to 12 and each team appears to have a few male members. All have trace of lt. dust soil and tiny bit of edge wear. One card has trace of moisture at top edge. Good. Remaining three are VG. Amelia Bloomer designed and wore the loose-fitting, Turkish-style trousers that carried her name and made sports more practical for women athletes. In the 1890s, scores of "Bloomer Girls" baseball teams were formed all over the country. There was no league. Bloomer girl teams rarely played each other but barnstormed across the country challenging local town, semi-pro, and minor league mens teams and frequently won. The teams were integrated when it came to gender. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
