Item Description
Button range in size from 1.25" to 2.25". The first and largest item in the group is a 6" tall ribbon badge which has 1.25" inset celluloid reading "Ex. Chief John Ryder." Suspended ribbons read "Henry B. Eaton/St. Croix Valley Fire Departments." Reverse has labels from W&H. A beautiful piece with just the slightest tiny age dot below the word "Chief." Next is rare dated button from 1904 although it is missing its collet. Issued for "Eagle Hose, No.1." Only other items in the group with some damage are the fourth button showing fireman with a little light stain and gold off the ribbon. Sixth item has tears on the 1938 suspended ribbon. Seventh button is in gorgeous color but once had a suspension hanging from tiny hole on lower rim. While this is gone the button itself remains Exc. Next to this a "Liberty Fire Co." button has age around outer perimeter. Everything else displays bright and clean. The last six pieces are from the 1950s while the other pieces are all 1940s or earlier. Also see fire company related Chincoteague Penning Day 1950 button item #862.
