Item Description
Silvered metal badge is 2.5" tall. Quoted text is on the ornately designed hanger. Suspended below is ornate piece showing very early hand operated pumper surrounded by text "Veteran Volunteer/Firemen's Ass'n/Baltimore." Piece has maker's name on back Braxmar. The battle referred to occurred in 1814 when a British invasion fleet landed thousands of troops near Baltimore. With this item comes 7/8" beautifully colored button reading "Vet. Vol. Firemen's Association Baltimore." While perimeter has a little light tan stain the button itself has great design of hand operated pumper, fire axe, ladder, nozzle and fire trumpet. Reverse of this has aged backpaper from Torsch & Minks. Button is c. 1898.
