Item Description
c. 1940s. 23.75x37.75" thin tan art board has 22x31" image area in pastel. Attractive woman in bikini and high heels holds plush duck doll as pretty redhead kneels nearby wearing swimsuit costume, baseball cap w/feathers and feathered gloves. Back of costume has applied yellow feathers as well. Art is boldly signed "MacPherson" near bottom. Comes with 3.75x5" clipping from "St. Paul Dispatch" newspaper with photo of MacPherson in suit displaying this painting at a national conference of Shaw-Barton Calendar Company district managers in Granville, Ohio. Photo only appeared in this particular newspaper. Corner tips and center extreme margin edges have thumbtack holes. Art board is lightly taped to sheet of foam core but is easily removable and art should be re-framed. Trace of lt. dust soil and aging but image area will mat and frame to near Exc. appearance. A wonderful image by one of the country's top pin-up illustrators of the 20th century.
