7x9" glossy dated September 30, 1946 has image of Durocher in Dodgers uniform sitting on bench in Dodgers dugout with players in background with Dr. Pepper cooler under bench. Reverse side has applied paper caption from Acme photo with title "Pennant Race Tough On Lippy's Blood Pressure, The Hair Brush Pennant Contest Between St. Louis And Brooklyn Seems To Have Left Poor Leo Durocher A Bit Limp, And The Fight Is Not Yet Over. His Darling Dodgers And The Cards Will Start A Playoff On Tuesday (Oct. 2nd), And The World Series Will Just Have To Wait Until The National League Pennant Business Is Settled Once And For All." Back of photo has second ink stamp date of Oct. 8, 1946. Photo has a 1" vertical tear at bottom edge with some lt. rippling from applied caption on back but overall glossy and Fine. This baseball playoff tie-breaker was the first in history and the St. Louis Cardinals swept the Brooklyn Dodgers to win the series. Leo The Lip was a player between 1925 and 1945 for various teams including the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers. He managed the Dodgers between 1939 and 1946 and again in 1948 and went on to manager the New York Giants, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros. He played in three All-Star games and played or managed in four World Series. His career includes 95 ejections as a manager by umpires. He was elected to the Baseball HOF in 1994.
