Item Description
First is 11x13.5" india ink on stiff paper by Art Bimrose editorial cartoonist for Portland's Oregonian newspaper. Title in blue pencil reads "Eastern Cold Wave Stalls Traffic." Shows "New Hampshire Polls" sign with Rockefeller pushing George Romney in stalled "Romney Campaign" car through deep snow. Dated for 1/11/68. Some white out and minor marks on border as created. Second is 8x10.75" india ink on stiff paper by Dick Flood of San Jose News. Dated on reverse production stickers for New Years Day 1/1/68. Titled "Charge" on lower margin and also inscribed to fellow editorial cartoonist and collector: "To Gordon Campbell With Best Wishes Dick Flood." Running GOP elephant passes sign "1968 Presidential Campaign." Elephant howdah carries (left to right) George Romney, Rockefeller, Nixon with 5 o'clock shadow holding mirror and razor, a generic politician (perhaps John Lindsay) and Ronald Reagan. NM as created.
