Item Description
On August 13, 1962 JFK proposed a tax cut (see YouTube video) to be presented as a bill to Congress in January 1963. This large 14x17.75" stiff paper editorial cartoon in litho pencil by (Jack) Knox of the Nashville Banner is undated but a reaction to JFK's proposal. A father labeled "New Frontiersman" orders a "Tax Cut/Without A Spending Cut" from "Congress" while pointing at his son labeled "The Younger Generation" and whispering to a Congressman "P-S-S-S-T! Just Charge It To Junior." Junior's wagon is already piled high with debt bills. The cartoon is titled "Father Selects Another Expensive Gift - For Father!" Alas, not much has changed in Washington politics. See next related item. NM.
