“3.5x4.5" promo for 1938 Columbia Pictures serial has numbered spaces designed to be punched out with small image of spider at lower left. Text in center reads “The Spider’s Web A Spine-Chilling Chapter Play In 15 Episodes/Headquarters RKO Boston Theatre/See 14 Chapters Of The Spider’s Web And Have Doorman Stamp Card Each Week. When Fully Stamped You Are Entitled To See The Last Chapter Free!” with one unnumbered square marked “Free”. Bottom right corner tip has punch mark and lower left corner tip has tiny crease and tiny tear in .25" area. Blank reverse side of card has moisture mark at bottom but card is otherwise unused and Fine. The movie serial was based on the pulp magazine character The Spider and starred Warren Hull, Iris Meredith, and Richard Fiske. The film was directed by James W. Holm and Ray Taylor and produced by Irving Briskin. It was the fifth of the 57 serials released by Columbia and was the most popular serial of 1938 and was the first serial that Columbia re-released in 1947. It was also the first serial to be adapted from a pulp magazine. This is the actual example shown in the "Hake’s Official Price Guide to Pop Culture Memorabilia" and the only example we have seen in 45 years. Rarest of the Rare.
