8-1/8x10" showing International League Championship Team in uniforms standing and sitting in front of the grandstand. Jackie Robinson, in his first professional season of baseball is standing at the far right and another African American player, either John Wright or Roy Partlow is standing at the far left. Al Campanis, who would later be an executive with the Dodgers is also in the photo. Photo has a few lt. handling creases mostly just visible in reflected light. A clean, glossy and sharp image. VF. The Montreal Royals hold a unique place in baseball history for being the first major-league affiliate to break the color barrier. On October 23, 1945 Hector Recine, Montreal Royals owner and team president, and Brooklyn managers general manager Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson. Robinson would finish the first season as the leagues batting champion. An historic piece of baseball memorabilia. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
