Item Description
c. late 1890s. B/w cards are each 3.5x6-7/8" with number and title on front and extensive descriptive text on reverse. Scenes include: Mr. R.W. Sears at his desk, talking machine record room showing hundreds of 78s on shelf, watch making in jewelry department, counting money received daily, and printing and binding catalogs. Almost every card shows numerous employees going to work or hard at work. Original cardboard box holding cards is heavily worn remnant and just comes along. Poor. Cards have trace of lt. dust soil here and there but overall set is Fine/VF. Wonderful photographic history of turn of the century activities at the country's top mail order house.
