Item Description
32.25x34.5” quality frame contains 22x28” jumbo size window card for 1934 MGM film that starred Jimmy Durante and Jack Pearl (radio’s Baron Munchhausen) in a story of Durante, as “The Great Schnarzan” (an obvious Tarzan riff) who was a jungle movie star that needed new lions. In order to acquire lions from Baron Munchhausen, Durante throws lavish Hollywood party with Laurel & Hardy, Charles Butterworth, Eddie Quillan, George Givot, Frances Williams, Polly Moran, Lupe Velez and Ted Healy and his Stooges, all of who are pictured on this window card. “Hollywood Party” title at top is interspersed with images of various women and a few men dancing. “Not To Mention Mickey Mouse And His Hot Chocolate Soldiers,” Mickey Mouse is pictured at center just below main image of Laurel & Hardy.” Card has extensive professional restoration to 3” and 4” tears at title and 1/8” and .5” holes at left and right center margins. Hardy’s nose and Frances Williams’ chin/mouth have been touched-up as has a portion of Mickey Mouse’s hand. Still displays Fine. All promotional material for this film is rarely seen.
