Elaborate scene has Blue Beetle having just rescued scantily-clad pretty redhead while firing pistol at Asian villain who is dropping Tommy gun but is about to swing axe as Asian hoards outside window are about to attack. Art has hand-lettered caption at lower right “Swinging From A Nearby Rooftop The Blue Beetle Sails Into The Conspirators.” Art is a recreation of June 1940 Issue No. 11 of “Mystery Men Comics” with all text hand-lettered. Includes “Gift Offer Giant Comicscope See Inside Cover” premium. Art is signed at bottom in ink “Joe Simon.” Bright and N. Mint. Joe Simon (born 1913) was Art Director for his high school newspaper and had his first major work published in 1932 by the Rochester Journal American. He worked on early comic books for “Funnies, Inc.” and went over to Timely Comics, eventually creating Captain America with Jack Kirby in 1940. Wonderful example of Simon’s comic book work. N. Mint. Ready for display. One of the largest and nicest Joe Simon comic book-related originals we’ve ever seen. Wonderful example by this noted artist who was also an editor and publisher.
