Item Description
Rare 1930s 1” button by Bastian with photo of the boxing champ and text “Jack Dempseys Bar And Restaurant/Miami Beach.” After his boxing career, Dempsey opened a number of restaurants including this in the Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel, in which he was a part owner, in the 1930s in the midst of Miami’s famed art deco era. The restaurant survives today as “Setai,” owned by luxury resort hotel operator General Hotel Management. Button has exceedingly trivial 1/16” lamination mark on extreme lower right edge at 7 o’clock but barely noticeable and the piece essentially displays Mint as made. Rare.
