Item Description
Lot of 11. From series of high quality postcards from mid-1920s, about the time Hirohito ascended to the throne. Two picture a young Hirohito, 4 picture his father, Emperor Taisho, one also shows his mother, Empress Teimei. All have colorful graphics. Eight are embossed with gold luster accents. Two have English captions, one of these has 2 vignettes of battleships with captions reading “Our Ships At Anchor/Our Ships On Blockade Duty Off Port Arthur.” All have Japanese stamps, presumably a tax stamp as only one appears to have any correspondence and all are unmailed. A nice grouping. Lt aging to a few, VF. Most Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
