Item Description
12.25x28.5" frame contains pen and ink art that has been double-matted to 4.5x20.5". Five-panel strip originally ran May 2, 1936 that is part of the "Eugene The Jeep" storyline by Popeye creator E. C. Segar. Strip opens with Wimpy warning Popeye about their imminent demise at the hands of the forces of Mr. Chizzelflint and his quest to obtain Olive Oyl's pet Jeep to which Popeye replies that "He Kin Lick Any Man On Eart'!" Next panel reveals Mr. Chizzelflint with large bruiser-type man who replies "Don't Worry I Can Lick Any Man On Earth!" This last panel bears Segar's name and his signature cigar illustration. Aside from pen and ink art, there is also some blue color pencil highlights. Light scattered aging with 2" streak by Segar's last name. Fine/VF.
