Item Description
21.5x25" high quality frame contains professionally double-matted 16 field art in approximately 11x13" opening showing beautiful concept art for a sequel to 1940's "Fantasia" which was eventually scrapped due to poor box office performance of the original "Fantasia."  Art is by noted Danish artist Nielsen, a fine artist in his own right with experience illustrating fairy tales and fantasy scenes.  Examples of Nielsen's art have sold in the six figure range.  His work was also used in Fantasia's "Ave Maria" and "Night On Bald Mountain" sequences.  This art was done c. 1941 and depicts scene to be set to Wagner's "The Ride Of The Valkyries."  In scene, five Valkyries decend from clouds on flying steeds, each with shield and armed with spear.  They descend amidst thunderstorm and gigantic lightning bolts.  Discarded shields and spears litter ground as the Valkyries assess the battlefield.  Beautifully rendered in pastels, displays wonderfully as framed.  A truly phenomenal piece of original Disney art for what no doubt would have been an amazing sequel if produced.
