Item Description
This cover is one of the most striking comic book history. Joe Simon and Jack Kirby didn't have to do another cover in their life and they would still be remembered for this one. The cover design is largely credited to Joe Simon who than inked Jack Kirby's pencils .Under an incredible barrage of firepower, Captain America takes out the head of the Nazis with one single punch. The cover of the book is packed with detail, but take special notice of the Television directly above Captain America's head. It appears that a Nazi is monitoring the destruction of an American munitions plant. How many people even knew what a TV was in 1941? This is the first appearance of both Captain America and Bucky. The issue also tells their origin, and the book introduces their classic foe, the Red Skull. It features stories by Simon, Kirby and Ed Herron, and art by Simon and Kirby as well as Al Liederman. The inside cover has an advertisement for the "Capt. America Sentinels of Liberty Club". In addition to the 45 pages of Captain America, there are backup features Hurricane, and by Simon and Kirby, Tuk the Caveboy. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified VF 8.0. Of all the patriotic superheroes that appeared at this time, Captain America was by far the most impressive. He was also the longest lasting, with this title running 78 issues.
