Item Description
This lot comprises all 12 issues from Vol. 1. Issues are #1-12 published Nov. 1933 through Oct. 1934. Each is 5.25x7.25" w/16 pages. These were issued by various dairies w/imprint on top margin of front cover plus a different specialty ad on each back cover. These issues have several different issuers. Issue #1 is Brighton Place Dairy, #2 and #4 are Highland Dairy, #3 is Detroit Creamery, all others are Rieck's. #1 had 1" hairline splits at top and bottom spine edges that have been professionally restored, this is only noticeable on the inside spine edge upon very close inspection. Cover has just st. trace of aging, contents remain totally clean. Technically Fine but displays VF. #2 is special Christmas issue. Moderate scattered cover wear and aging, pair of 1.5" splits to top and bottom spine edge have archival tape repair on interior. Contents have scattered small trace of soiling. VG. #3 features story "Alice In The Wonderland Of Milk." Entire copy has a few lt. vertical bends, cover has a 3" split along top spine edge w/tiny 1/8" flake at tip. Cover is VG, contents are clean and Fine. #4 is special Boy Scout issue. Cover has moderate scattered wear and aging, 1" split at top and bottom spine edges have archival tape repair on interior. Cover is VG to Fine, contents are clean and VF. #5 is special Girl Scout issue. Has a 1" split at top spine edge, 2.5" split along bottom spine edge. Other lt. cover aging but VG to Fine. Contents are clean and VF. #6 is special baseball issue and features story "I Make A Hit With The Giants By Mickey Mouse" featuring Bill Terry and Carl Hubbell. .5" split at bottom spine edge, cover lightly aged w/minor handling wear but Fine. Contents are VF. #7 features interview by Mickey Mouse w/Frank Buck. Lt. cover wear and aging, Fine. VF contents. #8 features aviation theme cover and article on aviatrix Laura Ingalls. 1" split at bottom spine edge, very lt. aging but cover remains Fine w/VF contents. #9 has golf theme cover and features "Meet Babe Ruth" article. Lt. handling wear, st. trace of cover aging, front cover has tiny 1/8" flake from top right corner tip, back spine edge has .25" tear by one staple. Cover is Fine, contents are clean and VF. #10 features an article on the World's Fair plus one page w/cut-out figures of Mickey and Pluto. Lt. handling wear, trace of cover aging, .5" split at bottom spine edge but Fine. Contents clean and VF. #11 features an article on Walt Disney as well as a page w/cut-out figures of Minnie and Horace. Cover has lt. trace of aging, minor .25" split at top and bottom spine edges but cover is Fine. Contents clean and VF. #12 has football theme cover and article w/football heroes Albie Booth and Benny Friedman. Cover and contents are lightly aged but clean. Cover has .25" split at bottom spine edge but Fine. Contents are VF. A rare opportunity to obtain the complete first year at one time, this is the only time we've offered a complete year in Hake's 40-year history.
