Item Description
This multi-part set was made by Ensign Ltd. of London c. 1932. Parts are enclosed in a stiff cardboard carrying case w/handle and latch. Case measures 6.5x10.5x3.5" deep. A string tag on the handle pictures Mickey in classic waving pose. Reverse of this piece has pair of archival paper strips to reinforce three rather heavy vertical crease or split lines. Tag is browned but clean and first we've seen. Inside is 4.5x6x3" deep blue cardboard box w/large paper label picturing Mickey on top. This holds the toy lantern which is NM. Unit contains a light bulb although there is no battery. No apparent reason why the unit would not function if the correct battery were inserted. There is only a tiny bit of black paint missing from the small housing of the on/off switch on the exterior and a couple tiny dots of paint off the interior of the back cover. Lantern is about 5.5" long. There is also a small slipcase w/label "Spare Battery And Bulbs" but none of those are included. The main feature of the unit are the complete set of 11 boxed slide sets. Each has a label picturing Mickey and Minnie. Side panel has the title of the cartoon. Inside each box are a pair of glass slides, each w/four scenes so a complete story consists of eight scenes and within each box is a 5x11" story paper which describes each of the eight scenes. About half the slide boxes are unopened. The 11 stories are "Pioneer Days, The Gorilla Mystery, The Cactus Kid, plus 8 more. Other than the tag on the carrying case, pieces are Exc. to Mint. Only the second complete set we've ever seen.
