Item Description
8.5x11.75" Vol. 3 #5, Aug., 1928 issue featuring the first Buck Rogers story that also represents the origin of space/super hero characters. 29-page story "Armageddon-2419 A.D." by Philip Francis Nolan includes five bw illustrations by artist identified as "Paul." One of these is a great full page illustration. Brief introduction to the story includes text "We Hope The Author May Be Induced To Write A Sequel To It Soon." Also features story by H. G. Welles titled "The Moth." Cover illustration does not picture Buck Rogers (see following item) but a flying scientist from the magazine's lead story "The Skylark Of Space" by Edward Elmer Smith and Lee Hawkins Garby. Contents have tanned w/age and has some corner tip wear but remain clean and supple. 3-3/8x5.75" ad clipping, not affecting Buck contents. Pages are Fine-VF. Covers have dust soiling at margins and are Fine.
