Item Description
15x21.25" image area on canvas features oil painting original art of Vampirella in front of a throne decorated w/a skull, bats and a wolf flanking her; a skull hides beside the throne's base. Upper right features large portrait of Bela Lugosi (hearkening back to his performance in 1932's White Zombie). This commission piece was originally painted by Manuel Pérez Clemente - better known as Sanjulián - as a standalone figure of Vampirella w/throne on a stark white bkg. Sanjulián signed art at that time at lower right. That art is recently published as such in Sanjulián, Master of Fantasy Art book, which features many of his magazine and novel covers. The piece was later purchased from the original owner and Sanjulián was then commissioned once again, this time to add the detailed bkg. along w/the bats, wolf, Lugosi, etc. Sanjulián once again signed at lower right, this time in crimson. This newly expanded art is of cover art quality and would fit right in w/any Warren magazine cover art done by this legendary Vampirella artist. 5/8" slice to blank margin area at top left corner, which has slight uneven trim to top, but art is unaffected and remains Exc. for display.
