Item Description
11x17" DC Comics/Vertigo/WildStorm artboard features pen and ink original art by Evan Dorkin, a multi-Eisner Award winning artist best known for his Milk And Cheese and Dork comics. Offered here is specialty art created by Dorkin in 2001 specifically for the Estate of Gray Morrow Benefit Auction after his passing, to benefit Morrow's widow. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the art was misplaced and forgotten until recently. The auction proceeds from the sale of this piece will go to Morrow's widow as intended, some 20 years later. Art depicts Dorkin's "Dairy Products Gone Bad," w/their usual in-your-face flare, charging towards the viewer, Milk holding a clenched fist and screaming "Here Comes Cruelty!" while Cheese brandishes a broke gin bottle and adds "Cruelty For All!" Additional portraits (featuring especially crazed depictions of the dastardly dairy duo) at top flank Dorkin's hand-lettered title w/Milk labeled as "The Hateful One!" and Cheese noted as "The Spiteful One!" Word balloons serve as an introduction, w/Milk saying "We're Milk And Cheese!" and Cheese adding "Mind If We Kill You A Little?" Dorkin has signed his first name at lower right, adding "01" date. Back has Dorkin's custom inkstamp and "Dec. 17 2001" date stamp. Art is Exc. and a stunning example of these indie comic fan favorites. Comes w/original hand-addressed padded mailing envelope and handwritten note from Dorkin mentioning benefit auction (note is written on back of Dork #2 proof page). This piece was published in Dark Horse Comics' Milk & Cheese - Dairy Products Gone Bad hardcover on page 227 noting it was done for the charity auction. All published Dorkin Milk & Cheese art is highly sought after and rarely comes up for sale.
