Item Description
22.75x27" frame contains mixed media original art that has been matted to 16.75x20.75". Art was published in MAD Magazine #162 in Oct. 1973. Art is by longtime MAD cartoonist Al Jaffee (1921-2023) and shows US Army massacre of Native American village. Text block stat at upper left reads "What Old Indian Trick Is Actually Avenging The White Man's Massacres?" Opposite corner shows painted image illustrating how fold Fold-In. Text Block at bottom reveals answer when folded, reading "They Taught Paleface To Smoke" w/folded image revealing three "faces" of three men smoking cigar, pipe and cigarette w/smoke atop forming skull and crossbones. Jaffee has signed at lower right. Top center has additional pasted text stats. Strip of tape staining to top/bottom center margins w/some scattered aging around pasted stats. VF overall, but image area remains clean and Exc. Ready for display as matted and framed. Nice example of one of MAD's most iconic features by one of the MADdest of the MAD staff.
