Item Description
10.5x15-5/8" artboard w/pen and ink original art for first page of Freedom Fighters #13, published by DC Comics April 1978. Art is by Dick Ayers (1924-2014) w/inks by Jack Abel (1927-1996) and features large splash panel w/news reporter covering story of Black Condor's rescue from the electric chair by his fellow Freedom Fighters. Shown include - Uncle Sam, Black Condor, The Ray, Human Bomb, Firebrand and Phantom Lady. Each member of the team has their portrait featured at top w/hand-lettered hero name and aliases. Large "Black Condor" hand-lettered logo appears below art. Top margin has title logo stat pasteover w/publishing indicia stats pasted at bottom. Top right has single line of text replaced w/new strip taped in place on back of artboard. Back also has DC copyright inkstamp. Artboard has some lt. scattered aging w/thin strip of glue staining at lower left, but is o/w VF.
