Item Description
11-1/8x15.25" artboard has pen and ink original art w/screentone accents for cover to The Best Of DC #40, published by DC Comics in September 1983. Art is by Gray Morrow (1934-2001), who provided art for various DC titles throughout the 1970s and into the 1980s. The Best Of DC was a digest-sized comic and this issue focused on "The Fabulous World Of Krypton," showing Superman's parents Jor-El and Lara walking about a futuristic Kryptonian city. The final published comic features hazy image of Superman in the sky above them, likely printed in layers. Superman image is not included. Morrow has signed at lower left. Top margin has inked title and issue number as well as deadline date. Back has DC copyright inkstamp. Scattered pin holes along margins and corners w/number of pin holes at center left margin, not affecting art, which has some lt. aging to a few inked lines, but is o/w Exc.
