Item Description
This lot is as much a documentation of a friendship as it is an archive of Dave Cockrum's work. First is Dave's first published collection of sketches in the form of ten portfolio plates and intro letter ©1973 David E. Cockrum. Plates have deckled right edges as made. Features fantasy images and more. Exc. Next are two SC books, BAMF: The Dave Cockrum Treasury and The Unseen Art of Dave Cockrum (signed on cover to Andy Yanchus). Both have lt. handling wear. Exc. Colorist Andy Yanchus and Dave shared a love of plastic modeling as there is a handwritten letter from Dave (on custom stationery) w/photos of a Nautilus Sub model. Exc. Next is an original piece of Dave Cockrum art of various modelers from Brooklyn Plastic Modelers' Society 1978 and printed copy of bulletin. VF. A Money Magazine supplement w/Dave Cockrum cartoon. VF. Rest of lot is mainly vintage photocopies and some stats of about 20 various gag covers (some Marvel) that Dave drew but also one original pen on paper spoof cover "Star MO", the Missouri Battleship in space. Photocopies also include Futurians model sheets, some of which are colored by Andy, numerous pieces of Dave's famous egg shaped aircraft, monster model kit designs, a few Batman pieces, some nudes and a vintage Futurians story copy of pencils. Many of these copies contain unpublished and lost images. All have lt. aging/wear. Overall VF. A very extensive dive into the early work of Dave Cockrum. From The Archives of Colorist Andy Yanchus.
