Item Description
23.5x29". Silk. Listed in Threads of History as plate 181 on p. 305. 13 stars in canton arranged w/12 smaller stars encircling a large center star. Design at center of 13 stripes features the Ship of State, w/verse below "She Will Founder Unless With True Patriot Zeal We Get Rid Of The Lubber Who Stands At The Wheel; We'll Take A New Pilot Whose Heart is True Blue, And Such Shall We Find In Our Harry the True." Loss at bottom right corner w/scattered tiny holes along fly end. Pair of small stains affecting central design and moderate handling wear. Fine w/superb reds and blues. Including the present example and the one in Threads we have encountered only three specimens in our 55 years. A historic and rarely offered pre-Civil War campaign flag that remains eminently displayable.
