Item Description
11x16.25" artboard features pen and ink w/inkwash original art by Filipino artist Franc Reyes, who provided Tarzan artwork for DC Comics' 1970s Tarzan comic, providing finished art over basic layouts by longtime Tarzan artist Joe Kubert. While Reyes is closely associated w/Kubert's Tarzan style, here he displays a style reminiscent of another popular Tarzan artist - Frank Frazetta. Art shows Tarzan and Jane along w/Cheeta, Jad-bal-ja the Golden Lion and lion cub. Reyes has signed at bottom (in a style that also mimics Frazetta's signature), adding "'76" date. Artboard has some scattered lt. spotting and is evenly aged. Strip of cloth tape across top edge on back of artboard as once mounted. VF overall. Bill Kamper Tarzan Collection.
