Item Description
SOS was a Warren-esque comic magazine, published in Spain by Valenciana 1948-1984, w/four well-differentiated periods, existing first as a humor magazine before transitioning to a horror anthology format. This issue is from the "third stage," which ran for 58 issues. Offered here is the cover to SOS #51, published in 1983. 10x14.25" artboard w/vellum overlay (loose but included) features mixed media original art for cover, featuring wax museum scene w/zombie strangling man, surrounded by wax figures of Universal Monsters Frankenstein (Boris Karloff), Phantom of the Opera (Lon Chaney Sr.), Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr.) and Hunchback of Notre Dame (Lon Chaney Sr.). This ties into first story in this issue and has penciled title at top margin. Artist is unknown as art is unsigned. Top margin has three spots of tape staining, but o/w art remains clean and Exc. Comes w/reading copy of the comic this cover art was created for.
