Item Description
11x15" artboard has mixed media original art by comic artist J.L. Blume, known for his cover work on Spanish comic books starring The Phantom. Cover is for the Spanish edition of "El Hombre Enmascarado" #27, which was published in Spain by Valenciana as part of their Del Colosos Comic line in 1981. Artboard has image area measuring 10.5x14.5" showing art for "Dizzying Business" cover story, w/The Phantom in profile, in disguise and oddly wearing a cape w/London skyline. He wears his hat, scarf, sunglasses and trenchcoat disguise throughout most of the story (the cape doesn't appear). Signed J. L. Blume. Top margin has handwritten title and "No. 28" designation. Back has the artist's inkstamp. Art has worn paper overlay and bottom back has a strip of board taped across. Artboard exhibits lt. edge wear. Art remains bright, clean and could easily be matted and framed for an Exc. display. Unique. Cover and contents were exclusive to the Spanish market and saw no US counterpart. Comes w/reading copy of the comic this cover art was created for.
