Item Description
10x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish Puno De Hierro (Iron Fist) #25, which reprints US Marvel Premiere Featuring Iron Fist issues #23 and #24 (featuring Warhawk and Monstroid) and was published in Spain by Mundi, Marvel Comics Group, c. 1979. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing an original composition based on art from the US issue cover #23 by Gil Kane and Bob McLeod. Art area measures 10x14.5" w/black area at top and bottom. Back of artboard has handwritten "Insuperables 25" w/pen date "5-11-79" at top in black felt tip pen and four tape spots on right edge. Artboard has some minor corner tip wear but o/w art remains bright, clean and Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books, featuring one of Marvel's most popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
