Item Description
One of few known examples in this size. 2.25". St. Louis Button Co. back paper. Same image as previous (and next 2) lots but this has text of his name and "Miracle Man." He was dubbed this in the fall of 1926 for leading the St. Louis Cardinals to their first World Championship in franchise history. Hornsby would finish his career with a .358 batting average along with 301 homers, 1,584 RBI's, 1,579 runs scored and 135 stolen bases. Hornsby would take home two National League MVP awards. He would gain election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1942. Trivial surface wear with a few tiny air spots only seen in reflected light. Glossy, Exc. Image is sharp and distinct. As impressive as the previous lot is, this larger size button is even more striking and dynamic. Add both to your collection for the ultimate Hornsby bragging rights.
