Item Description
First example Hake's has offered. 1.75". No maker. This should not be confused with the large 4" color button also made for this event. While that button is common, the one we are offering here is rare with few known. The design of this pin was to take an existing Mantle pin from earlier in his career, reposition the image, and add the event text at the top. Production of this was obviously low (as opposed to the large button) and the reason for its rarity. Mantle spent his entire career with the New York Yankees, 1951-68. A twenty-time All-Star, three-time AL MVP and seven-time World Series champion only scratches the surface of his career accolades. Inducted in the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1974. Trace of oxidation to metal collet and back. Button remains totally bright and glossy. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
