Item Description
14-3/8x20.25" artboard features pen and ink original art for Oct. 15, 1961 Sunday page by Mac Raboy (1914-1967), known for his work on Fawcett Publishing Captain Marvel Jr. as well as his 20 year run on the Flash Gordon comic strip. Art features eight panels (not counting title panel w/aged paste-over stat w/1.75" tear) and shows Desert Prince plotting on Mars as Flash Gordon crash lands his rocketship, escaping in the nick of time thanks to his Anti-G spacesuit. Flash appears in four panels in addition to panel where he appears as tiny silhouette. Last panel has been dated and second to last panel has KFS copyright strip. Printer inkstamp at top margin, which also has some editorial notations and paperclip rust marks. These extend very slightly into word balloon in second panel and are not distracting. Artboard has some scattered dust soiling and is Fine/VF while art o/w remains clean and Exc. Would make for great framed display.
