Item Description
7x29-1/8" artboard features original pen and ink art for Feb. 25, 1931 daily strip, featuring pencils by early 1930s Mickey Mouse comic artist Earl Duvall. Strip is from the "Mickey Mouse Vs. Kat Nipp" storyline and features four panels showing Mickey Mouse worrying about seeing Minnie Mouse w/his tail coiled after being tied in knots by self-declared "Toufest Guy In The Kounty" Kat Nipp (we offered the art from this sequence in our last auction, where it sold for a record $61,729). To get the coil out, Mickey soaks his tail in a bucket of hot water, perhaps a bit too well as Mickey remarks "Migosh - Now I Can't Do Anything With It! It's As Limp As A Hound Dog's Ear!" Final panel shows Mickey's resourcefulness, as he heads to Minnie's w/a balloon holding up the tip of his tail. This was the final strip in this storyline and Mickey appears in every art panel. Third panel has thin Walter E. Disney copyright strip paste-over and last panel bears inked date. Left margin has handwritten "9" in red pencil. Back has "The Air Male-" (King Features Syndicate's episode title for the strip, for those newspapers that wished to give it one) written in blue pencil. Artboard has been rolled and has curl as such. Left margin shows some wear w/lt. fraying to edges; not affecting art. Pin holes at top corners w/minor trim at top left resulting in slightly uneven edge. Some lt. even aging and scattered dust soiling at margins w/tiny spot of staining at bottom of second panel, but o/w art remains clean and Exc. From the Estate of Disney Artist Earl Duvall, known for his work on Disney comic strips in the early 1930s and for a handful of animated short films he directed at Warner Bros. Cartoons.
