Item Description
This lot consists of four basic items: two sheets of original art, a proof sheet and an album. All relates to a 1942 series of "Cromos" full color cards issued by Spanish company Fher, known for their album and card sets dating back to the 1930s (see next lot). This series was extensive and featured a variety of Disney and other comic characters. Each original art sheet is about 6x10" w/pen & ink original art for six different cards per sheet. Two cards on each have also been hand colored. One features Mickey Mouse, Horace and Clarabelle while the other is Donald Duck, Pluto and two tiny Mickeys. While from 1942, images are more 1930's in style w/a pie-cut eye Mickey and long-billed Donald. Both have penciled production notations on margins. Sheets lightly aged, Fine but art is Exc. Proof sheet is 6.5x13.5" w/total of 36 card images from three subsets: Mickey and Donald (but different cards from the art in this lot), Three Little Pigs and Popeye. Aging and slight margin trim at right. Fine. 6x8" album has hard cover and 20 stiff paper pages filled with full color embossed and die-cut cards from a wide variety of series and subjects. This includes three pages of Disney, 36 cards in total, each is 1.5x1.5". One page features example cards for all 12 images on the original art sheets. Other cards in the album from this "Cromos" series include Popeye and Betty Boop. Album and pages show wear, Fine overall but cards Exc. as mounted. A truly one-of-a-kind item for collectors of Disneyana and non-sports cards.
