Item Description
Hollywoodland is a 2006 neo-noir period mystery film directed by Allen Coulter. The story presents a fictionalized account of the circumstances surrounding the death of Adventures Of Superman actor George Reeves (played by Ben Affleck). Offered here is the "Land" test suit in gray and brown colors as the actual Superman costume worn by Reeves was for 1950s TV filming. Superman costume includes 22" wide (shoulders, 62" armspan) by 28" tall tunic w/embroidered "S" symbol and crotch snaps, 39.5" long elastic band pants w/elastic boot stirrups at bottom and 58x76" cape w/one edge having scalloped neck cut as made. Tunic has attached property tag w/handwritten notes in black felt tip pen, noting "Character: George, Actor: Affleck B, Change: Test Suit" and also notes "Test With Muscle Suit - Take Photos - Destroy - No Public." Tunic has mounted felt pad on back inner collar used to secure cape and has two small "X" marks on shoulders in black felt tip pen. There is some inking directly to back edge of collar w/1.5" tear below collar. Still displays VF overall. Inside waistband of pants has "Test - George" written in black felt tip pen. Exc. Cape has some scattered staining to one shoulder corner and opposite bottom corner. Fine/VF.
