Item Description
Only example known to Hake's, 2.25" w/metal back and bar pin plus name of maker on curl Philadelphia Badge Co. Single day issued on Sunday July 27, 1941 at Comiskey Park in Chicago, IL. Between 1933 and 1950 Comiskey Park hosted Negro League East-West All Star games. Although press coverage for these contests was nowhere near the exposure of its Major League Baseball equivalents, the fans treated these all-star games as the grandest event of the year, comparable to MLB's World Series. This particular button was for a 1941 game featuring pitchers Terris McDuffie and Hilton Smith, in which the East won over the West 8-3. Among the other notable participants in this ball game were: Satchel Paige, Buck Leonard, Monte Irvin and Roy Campanella. Most silver flashing off the metal back but only the slightest oxidation.  Cello has faint and widely scattered tiny age marks but still displays VF with full gloss and just a few bumps to the touch at the center area. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
