Item Description
8x14.25" artboard has pen and ink original art for unpublished 1949 comic story featuring the Golden Age Green Lantern. Partial page features three panels, showing Green Lantern being entranced by Pied Piper-like character. Said character later conspires w/criminals. This was bottom portion of artboard, which has "Written Off - 9-30-49" inkstamp at bottom center. Illustrated by Irwin Hasen (1918-2015), an American comic book artist noted for his 1940s work on Green Lantern and for creating Justice Society of America member Wildcat. Green Lantern appears in first panel only. Artboard has faint editorial notations at upper right margin. Some scattered dust soiling to margins, but art remains clean and displays Exc. It appears likely that art is among the partial-page Golden Age original art that was saved from oblivion by DC interns during the 1970s.
