Item Description
10.75x16" artboard has pencil original art by Bob Brown that has been inked by Murphy Anderson. Art is for page 1 of "Superboy" Vol. 1 #177, published by DC Comics Sept. 1971. Page features six panels, showing Clark Kent and his adoptive parents celebrating his Earthday (the day he came to Earth). Second panel show flashback scene showing The Kents w/infant Kal-El. An alert from Superboy's secret communications network goes off, w/the Navy requesting that he look into the sudden activation of the mothball fleet, sailing w/o crew. Fourth panel shows Clark changing into Superboy, going on to fly above fleet and using his X-Ray Vision to confirm the ships are w/o crew. Top margin has stamped title and inked issue/page numbers w/scattered editorial notations. Top margin has also been signed in blue "Best Wishes To Jeff -  28 Apr, 90 - From Murphy Anderson." Bottom has publishing indicia stat paste-overs which have aged somewhat. Strip of tape at top/bottom center and at left of main paste-over, not affecting art. Back has partial Comics Code Authority inkstamp. Artboard is Fine overall but art remains clean and Exc.
