Item Description
22x30" thick molded and painted composition high relief store display depicts large Howdy Doody face above his name. Made by Old King Cole Displays Inc., who made a wide variety of exceptional Disney displays for stores and theaters during the 1930s and 1940s. This store display dates to the 1950s and was part of a series featuring "Howdy Doody" character portraits set against star bkg. (see following item) and these were used to promote the various pieces of merchandise bearing Howdy Doody's name. Back has small "Old King Cole Display Inc. - Canton Ohio" label. Tip of Howdy's nose is missing surface paint and this appears to have been touched up. Top point of star has been holed for hanging display and bottom left corner has 1.25" crack. Blue point of star has .5" area of missing paint and raised areas show some scattered wear. Display is evenly aged and has some expected dust soiling given its textured nature. Still Fine for display. Rare and first we've seen in our 53 years and easily the most impressive Howdy Doody display we've seen.
