Item Description
Arak, Son of Thunder first appeared in "The Warlord" #48 (published by DC Comics Aug. 1981) and was created by Roy Thomas and Ernie Colón. Initially depicted very much as a Conan the Barbarian knock-off in early appearances, he later takes on a more Native American appearance, as seen here. Pen and ink original art is for double splash page (pages 2-3) for "Arak, Son Of Thunder" #47, by Tony DeZungia published by DC Aug. 1985. Art features Arak and company arriving at the Dragon Festival in China, the ship passing several opulent Chinese dragon ships. Pages feature total of four panels, w/Arak seeming troubled in last panel, which features a wonderful portrait of him. Arak appears in all panels. Top margins have inked partial title as well as issue/pages numbers and month of publication. Back of each has DC copyright stamp. Top margins have been trimmed and bottom right corner of page 2 and bottom left corner of page 3 have been clipped. Neither the trimming or clipping affects art, which remains bright, clean and Exc. Aforementioned last panel has been signed in black ink several of the creative team - writers Randy Lofficier, Jean-Marc Lofficier, Dann Thomas and Roy Thomas as well as DeZuniga and one other. Would make for nice framed display.
