Item Description
Lot of three 7.75" tall figural banks designed like bombs w/flat bases for upright display. 1940s. Color variety pair of plaster banks feature same design w/text in relief, including large "V" symbol just below coin slot. Red "V" variety has grease pencil price on side and some lt. scattered wear at coin slot. Fine/VF. Blue "V" variety shows just lt. paint wear and is VF/Exc. Both are scarce as these banks were designed to be smashed when enough was collected to purchase war bond; designed w/o traps. Comes w/similarly designed painted composition bank, which does not features raised lettering, instead side features "Bomb Bank" label w/instructions as well as listing cost of war bond. Label also features "Bomb The Japs From Your Own Home!" text. Label has spot of aging and shows some lt. wear. Flat base has unbroken paper trap noting W.H. Long Company maker of Chicago, IL. Bank is o/w VF/Exc.
