Item Description
The "Uncle Wiggily's Adventures" daily started in 1910 and was written by Howard R. Garis w/art by Lansing Campbell. Prose story had accompanying illustrations w/brief caption underneath. Captions were abandoned in 1925 in favor of word balloons. Offered here is large 23.75x26-7/8" frame w/six mat openings, each featuring two pen and ink original art images w/captions. Art is by Campbell and each image has been signed by the artist. Each also has handwritten title and date at top in pencil. Dates include July 21-25 and Sept. 30-31 (although mislabeled Oct. 1) through Oct. 2, 1925. Titles include - "Uncle Wiggily And The Spearmint, Uncle Wiggily And The Lightning Bug, Uncle Wiggily's Crazy Car, Uncle Wiggily's Late Fire Cracker, Uncle Wiggily's Crutch, Uncle Wiggily At The Piano, The Squirrel Boy Was Bouncing Up And Down, Uncle Wiggily And The Acorn Cup, Uncle Wiggily And Charlie's Trick, Uncle Wiggily And Arabella's Apples" and "Uncle Wiggily And The Horse Chestnuts." Uncle Wiggily appears in eight of the 12 daily panels. Some scattered aging/dust soiling but art remains clean and displays Exc. as professionally matted and framed.
