Item Description
10.5x13" stiff animation artboard has fully painted title sequence from 1950s "Woody Woodpecker" cartoon. Artboard has "Walter Lantz Prod." inkstamp at top margin. In addition to "Woody Woodpecker" theme song title, art features hand-lettered "Sung By Gloria Wood And Harry Babbit" text. Wood was a singer and voice actress who was utilized in numerous cartoons, beginning in 1948 in Walter Lantz's "Wet Blanket Policy," where she was first heard singing the "Woody Woodpecker" song. Babbit was a singer and star during the Big Band era and performed the Woody Woodpecker laugh on the song. Artboard has some aging and surface paper lifting along top margin, which has strip of tape at top center and lower right. Painted area remains clean and would display Exc. if framed. While devoid on images, still an iconic and unique piece of art from this beloved cartoon.
