Item Description
Sam Gold's experience in designing the Mickey Mouse Waddle Book led to developing this similarly designed Lone Ranger premium in the 1930s. Lot includes four pieces, each piece featuring all original art. We offered two pieces of original art - for prototype sign and store display - in our July 2017 auction from this same premium promotion. Two sheets of vellum (10.75x12" and 10.75x13.5") w/mixed media original art for front and back of mailing envelope. Front design shows rough outline of premium w/"Here Is Your Lone Ranger Walking Toy - Actually Walks Down The Ramp" hand-lettered pencil text w/scroll design showing "Adventures With The Lone Ranger" story title. Large area at bottom w/black paint splotches and heavy horizontal crease across art at top. VG. Back design again features rough outlines of the premium and has two columns for assembly instructions. Sheet has .25" piece out of upper left margin has corner crease at upper right. VG/Fine. 8x10" mailing envelope w/more finished looking original art and hand-lettered text that reads in part "This Envelope Contains: 19 Inch Trail Ramp On Which Lone Ranger Rides - Complete Parts For Lone Ranger And Silver - Envelope Containing 2 Pieces Of Special Leg Brass." Back has large "Instructions" hand-lettered header. Scattered flaking to white painted text, but Fine overall. 7-3/8x19-5/8" sheet of thin cardboard w/mixed media original art for Western trail ramp. 1" tear at fold line but o/w VF. Unique lot for the Lone ranger collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
