Item Description
28x41.5" poster for the original release of the 1947 All-American Entertainment musical race film directed by Josh Binney that featured an African-American cast headlined by Cab Calloway, who performs a number of songs in the film, including acapella versions of "Minnie Was A Hep Cat" and "St. James Infirmary" w/his orchestra. Stunning lithography by Globe Poster Corp. of Chicago, IL features photo portrait of Calloway at top left, grinning at scantily clad stereotypical African American woman dancing within large banner twirl that reads "Cab Calloway In 'Hi-De-Ho'." Originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted w/color touch-ups and some scattered restoration along fold lines and at fold crease intersections. .5" spot of tip of woman's shoe has been repainted and white bkg. has all over airbrushing to margins, repairing some corner and margin pin holes and three 1" tears along left margin. VF overall. Due to the social climate at the time of release, this poster saw limited distribution, resulting in it now being a very rare poster.
