Item Description
Lot of single 1-7/8x2.5" cardboard card w/vibrant mixed media original art and five 1-7/8x2.5" cardboard cards w/lead pencil original art for proposed 1950s series of Hopalong Cassidy trading cards that was eventually produced as "Hopalong Cassidy Wild West Trading Card" series in 1951. Color card art features Hoppy overlooking scene of racing stagecoach w/back having "The Stagecoach" hand-lettered title and illustration w/small Hoppy portrait image in red watercolors. Bottom third of card has some moisture staining. Fine. Pencil art cards each features a different Hopalong Cassidy premium item on the back of the cards (w/blank block on fronts labeled "Full Color Picture"), each premium item being made in some form at later date. These include plastic gun, cowboy/cowgirl outfits, pocketknife, magnetic dart game, wallet. One card has .5" moisture staining at corner and is Fine while others are VF/Exc. Comes w/2.5x19.25" cardboard strip featuring four cut-out premium "Hoppy Westerns" cards issued by Delicia Cone Cup ice cream cones that was used by Gold as reference material. Scattered wear along fold lines as issued but o/w VF. Something unique for both Hopalong Cassidy and non-sports card collectors. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
